Detailed information on a wide variety of DFO data available for Placentia Bay, including information on how to acquire these data.
The Canada-Newfoundland Operational Ocean Forecasting System (C-NOOFS) is a pilot project operational ocean weather forecasting system
for Canada. The objective is to produce an ocean state forecast with the best available forcing fields (i.e. winds) and the best available
initial analysis of the ocean state from which the forecast can be run. As meteorologists analyze and predict the weather, Fisheries and
Oceans Canada (DFO) is looking to analyze and forecast ocean currents, ocean temperatures, ocean salt content, as well as ocean waves.
