How To Use Our Weather Forecast Charts . . .
These charts are updated approximately every 12 hours (i.e. twice per day) at around 2-3am and 2-3pm NL Time. Chart sets are
initialized at 00:00 hours or 12:00 hours UTC (“Universal” or “Greenwich” Time). This is referenced on the charts as “Z” (“Zulu”)
time. To convert Z Time to Newfoundland Standard Time (“NST”), subtract 3-1/2 hours from Z Time.
The charts provide a 48-hour outlook from the initialization time of the current set of charts that you are viewing. There is a
forecast chart available at each 3-hour interval during the outlook period, for a total of seventeen (17) charts in each set.
The initialization time of the current chart set is shown at the top right of each chart. The specific forecast time in NST and Z
Time for each individual chart is provided in the title information below the chart.
To view a chart, select a time interval from the "Select Hour" box above. For example, selecting “18” will provide
the chart that represents the conditions forecast for 18 hours after the initialization time of the current chart set. This particular
time and date will be shown in the title information below the chart.
